Energy Hearing Testimony

A select number of public officials were invited to address an informal hearing about recent utility rate increases.

The 12 hour session, held by the Connecticut Assembly Energy and Technology Committee on August 27th was briefly interrupted as tens of thousands of Connecticut homes lost power when a line of powerful storms raced through the region.

Public comment was not invited for the informal hearing, and the hearing followed on the heels of a Public Utility Regulatory Agency hearing that included dozens of Connecticut residents’ testimony about the storm response to Tropical Story Isaias that left hundreds of thousands of homes, businesses, even police departments, including Bethel’s, without power for a prolonged period.
